Paul Harfleet’s work can be commissioned and developed across festivals, galleries, public spaces and communities. Drawing on projects including The Pansy Project, these engagements respond to specific locations and contexts, combining research, participation and creative action. Each project is shaped through collaboration, creating opportunities for public engagement, reflection and dialogue.

Commissions

Projects are developed in response to place, often involving site-specific actions such as planting, drawing or performance. These works explore local experiences and invite participation, creating moments of visibility and reflection within public space. Commissions may take place over a short residency or extended period, depending on the scope of the project.

Exhibitions & Installations

Work can be presented in gallery and museum contexts as exhibitions or installations, ranging from photographic works to large-scale interventions. Each exhibition is developed in response to the space, and may include new work, documentation, or expanded forms of existing projects.

Public Programmes

Commissions can be accompanied by public-facing activity, creating multiple ways for audiences to engage with the work. This may include:

  • Artist talks and in-conversation events
  • Workshops for schools, libraries and community groups
  • Guided walks or site visits
  • Screenings and informal gatherings

These elements can be developed as part of a wider programme or delivered as standalone events.

Process

Projects typically involve a period of research into the local context, followed by on-site activity and documentation. Outcomes may include photography, film, live events or participatory elements, depending on the nature of the commission. Work is shared through exhibitions, digital platforms and public programming, creating a lasting record of the project.

Fees

Projects are developed in response to context, scale and budget. As a guide, commissions may include artist fees, travel, accommodation and production costs. Please get in touch to discuss your project and available budget, here.
