London

London has been the HQ of The Pansy Project since 2009 that is the reason for a significantly larger number of plantings in London than anywhere else. This does not reflect a propensity of hate crime in our capital, it is simply an accident of the artists’ location.

Bristol

In October 2021 part of Vanguard: Bristol Street Art & Toward2030 Paul Harfleet hosted a walking tour for the like-minded to share stories of living in the city as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Hull / Contains Strong Language

In 2017 The Pansy Project featured at the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival, Hull, UK. He read Pansy Boy at a special event and planted the pansies above at locations sourced from a call out online.

Blackpool / ‘We’re Here’

This series of plantings was part of an exhibition curated by Garth Gratix, ‘We’re Here … was a “Group Exhibition, held at Winter Gardens, Blackpool in 2014.

Manchester / The Beginning

The Pansy Project began in Manchester, the above short film by Paul Harfleet outlines the origins, from the first festival appearances up to when the film was made in 2019, you can read more recent reflections on the beginnings of The Pansy Project here.

Liverpool / Homotopia

The Pansy Project first featured in the Homotopia Festival in 2006 shown in the video above. Various events and projects have taken place since then with the support of the then director of Homotopia, Gary Everett. You can see images and discover more on The Pansy Project Blog.

Brighton

Belfast / Outburst Queer Arts Festival

Birmingham / Shout Festival

In 2009 The Pansy Project featured in the Shout Festival in Birmingham, the above pansy locations were gathered via social media and with the support of West Midlands Police, pansies were supplied by Singletons Nurseries.
