Talks & Workshops

Paul Harfleet offers artist talks, workshops and combined sessions for art schools, universities, libraries and cultural organisations. Drawing on projects including Pansy Boy and The Pansy Project, these sessions explore the relationship between art, identity, nature and social engagement.

Artist Talks

Paul’s artist talks introduce his practice, tracing the development of projects such as The Pansy Project and Birds Can Fly. These talks reflect on themes of visibility, activism, queerness and the role of creativity in responding to lived experience. Talks can be delivered as lectures, informal presentations or in-conversation events, and are often accompanied by audience Q&A.

Workshops

Workshops combine storytelling, discussion and practical creative exercises in a supportive and inclusive environment. Participants are guided through accessible drawing activities—often inspired by birds and the natural world—alongside conversations around identity, kindness and self-expression. Sessions may also introduce Paul’s use of Gentle Referencing, using costume and styling as a creative tool. Workshops are adaptable for different ages and settings, from schools to adult groups, and can be delivered as one-off sessions or as part of longer projects.

Combined Sessions

Artist talks and workshops can be combined to create a fuller experience, for example, a talk followed by a practical session, or a series of workshops developed alongside an exhibition or residency. Fees: Fees will vary depending on format, duration and context. Please get in touch to discuss your project and budget.
